Regarding sports, Ghana is known predominantly for soccer. However, some of the youth in Ghana are embracing a popular sport in the United States, basketball. Two Worlds, Same Energy highlights young basketball talents from Ghana. Motivated by the success of African professional basketball players such as Hakeem Olajuwon, Joel Embiid, and Serge Ibaka, the youth of Ghana are striving to write a similar story of their own.

Having photographed youth basketball players in Washington, DC for a previous photographic project, I was curious about how documenting the youth in Ghana would be different. Interestingly enough, there weren’t many differences in playing the game. The similarities of the play-action were striking and the only real thing separating these players was an ocean.
