Project Statement:
Bob and Terry Rohe live in Hancock, Maine. They are 93 and 94 years old. They are both engaged in their lives – Bob practices Bach and Dvorak on his bass, while Terry works on a film project about the elderly, called Oldies, Wisies, and Wrinklies. After 25 years in the house they call ‘the Nest,’ their doctor has informed them that they should move into an assisted living facility.
Artist Bio:
Lily Piel was raised in Vermont and is a graduate of Bates College and the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies. Following years studying marine biology around the world, Lily discovered a love for photography and sustainable agriculture. Based in Maine, she specializes in corporate and personal portraits, and documentary photography with a focus on the human story. When not taking pictures, Lily is training for marathons, practicing permaculture and working toward a self-reliant homestead.
