Each photograph in The Spoken Word
project is meant to be a visual open mic, a stitch in the fabric of the slam poetry community in the Boston area.
The photographs are developed conceptually in collaboration with the people at poetry slams, they're based on the poet’s personal style of expression.
The prints are finished with a piece of, or an entire handwritten poem placed directly on the photograph by the poet, creating an individual testament to our collaboration and their voice.
Gregory Jundanian is an emerging artist focused on portraits with a concentration on self-selected communities, or chosen family. His two current projects are The Spoken Word
focusing on the poetry slam community of the Boston area, and Consider This Your Home,
an exploration of barbershops and male identity. He is slowly working on a portrait of his town Dedham, MA, and another project about schizophrenia as it relates to a family member.
Jundanian recently completed his post-baccalaureate degree at MassArt, and has shown his work nationally and internationally in a host of group shows.
