biography

Frank Konhaus is the Director of Cassilhaus, a home-based multidisciplinary arts venue between Durham and Chapel Hill, NC. He directs their exhibition and Artist-in-Residence program and manages the Cassilhaus Collection of contemporary photography. He is also the founding principal of KONTEK Systems, Inc., an Audio/Video system design and integration firm based in downtown Durham, NC. He is a graduate of Duke University. Frank is currently crisscrossing the US on a five-month research sabbatical investigating innovative artist residency and community arts programs.

Along with his wife Ellen, he brought French photographer and installation artist Georges Rousse to North Carolina for major public art projects in 2006 and 2016. He has served as Executive Producer for two documentary film projects: Bending Space: Georges Rousse and the Durham Project and Bending Sticks: The Sculpture of Patrick Dougherty. Frank serves on the Collections Committee at the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University, the Durham Cultural Advisory Board, and the executive committee of the annual Click! Triangle Photography Festival. He is a passionate collector of contemporary photography.
